One sunny day, a Lafayette man and his dear friend Medal of Honor Recipient, Woody Williams, were chatting and Dave Shively dreamed up an idea for an inanimate object - like a strong bridge - that could carry the name Medal of Honor. Dave thought his would be a terrific way for towns and cities all over the country to follow suit and pay tribute to our Nation's highest award for valor in their own community....thus the MEDAL OF HONOR BRIDGE WAS BORN. It represents ALL Medal of Honor Recipients past, present and future. The very first one sits in Tippecanoe County, Lafayette, Indiana, and was dedicated on May 6th, 2011. Indianapolis will name the second bridge on October 19th, 2011.
